Accidental noindex: How Sites Vanish From Google Overnight
A stray noindex meta tag or X-Robots-Tag header silently removes a page — or a whole template — from search. It's the most common 'SEO traffic died and nobody knows why' cause we scan.
How to fix it
- Check every indexable template for
meta robots noindex. - Check server headers for X-Robots-Tag: noindex on live pages.
- Keep noindex where it belongs: thank-you pages, internal search, staging.
- After removing one, use GSC's URL Inspection to request re-indexing.
